Preventive Care
We focus on keeping you healthy with routine check-ups, screenings, and guidance to prevent future health issues. By emphasizing proactive care, we help you stay ahead of potential concerns.

Why DPC
Healthcare today doesn’t always feel personal. Long wait times, rushed appointments, and confusing insurance rules can leave patients feeling frustrated and overlooked. That’s why Dr. Heagy is moving to Direct Primary Care (DPC) — a more personal, local approach to healthcare.
With DPC, we remove the "middleman" — no insurance barriers, no surprise bills, no co-pays or deductibles. Instead, you pay a simple, affordable monthly membership (often less than most monthly expenses) and receive personalized, attentive care when you need it.
This model gives you more time with your doctor, easier access to appointments, and a relationship built on trust — not rushed visits or red tape. It's healthcare the way it should be.
Having a dedicated primary care doctor is one of the best ways to stay healthy as you age. Studies show that regular visits with your PCP can lower the need for specialists, emergency room trips, and hospital stays — saving you money and helping you live a healthier, fuller life.
Dr. Heagy is excited to partner with you on your health journey — offering care that’s personal, thoughtful, and focused entirely on you.

About
Direct Access. Real Connection. True Care.

For as long as she can remember, Dr. Heagy dreamed of becoming a doctor. Growing up, she pictured a physician who truly knew their patients — someone who listened, cared deeply, and walked alongside people through every stage of life. It wasn’t until medical school that she discovered family medicine, the perfect match for the kind of care she always believed in.
Dr. Heagy grew up in Ellicott City, Maryland, and attended the University of Maryland, College Park, before earning her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She completed her residency training at the York Hospital Family Medicine Program and, since 2015, has been honored to care for families in the Southern York County community.
When she’s not seeing patients, Dr. Heagy enjoys spending time with her husband and their three children. Whether she’s curled up with a good book, hosting a lively family game night, or volunteering in the community, she treasures building strong connections — both inside and outside the exam room.

I have been a patient of Dr. Lauren Heagy for over 10 years, and I can say with complete confidence that she is the most exceptional physician I have ever encountered. Dr. Heagy consistently goes above and beyond the standard of care, treating not just symptoms, but truly caring for the whole person. Her compassion, professionalism, and dedication are unmatched. She listens intently, explains thoroughly, and always makes me feel like a priority. I have trusted her with my health for over a decade, and I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking a doctor who is not only skilled and knowledgeable but also genuinely kind and invested in her patients' well-being. Dr. Heagy's care has made a lasting difference in my life.
FAQ
Many of your questions about TrueCare Family Medicine can be answered right here. If you'd like to learn more or discuss your specific needs, we invite you to schedule a meet and greet with Dr. Heagy.
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a simple, patient-centered way to receive healthcare. Instead of going through insurance companies, patients have a direct relationship with their doctor — no claims, no co-pays, no deductibles, and no surprise bills. For an affordable monthly membership (often less than many monthly expenses), you get timely, attentive care whenever you need it. DPC removes the "middleman," allowing your physician to focus completely on you. This model leads to longer, more meaningful visits, better access to your doctor, and truly personalized care at an affordable price.
No hidden fees here! Your membership includes all visits and communication with Dr. Heagy. The only additional costs would be for things like extra bloodwork, imaging, or pathology services (such as from skin biopsies or pap smears).
If you need additional labs or imaging, we offer heavily discounted rates to make them affordable. And for prescriptions, we can often fill them right in-house at a low cost, making it even more convenient for you.
All communication with your doctor — office visits, phone calls, texts, and more — is included in your membership fee. That means no unexpected charges or “nickel-and-diming” like you might experience with traditional insurance-based care. Many DPC patients are even able to drop their expensive “comprehensive” insurance plans and switch to a more affordable high-deductible plan or health share program.
Because we see fewer patients, we can handle 60–80% of your healthcare needs directly — meaning fewer urgent care visits, fewer specialist referrals, and fewer hospitalizations. Plus, by working outside of insurance contracts, we can offer discounted pricing on lab tests, imaging, and medications — often costing less than a typical co-pay at a traditional practice.
Absolutely! Proactive, preventive healthcare is key to staying healthy, even if you’re not seeing your doctor frequently. Dr. Heagy will help guide you through routine preventive care and also be there when unexpected health concerns arise — whether it's managing a new chronic condition, treating a viral illness, or even handling a minor injury like a laceration.
The best way to find out is to meet Dr. Heagy in person or on a video visit! We offer a free, no-obligation visit where you can discuss your healthcare needs and get a feel for whether this is the right fit for you. We believe it’s the best way to start what we hope will be a long, healthy, and productive relationship. Please note that medical advice will not be provided during this initial "meet and greet."
TrueCare Family Medicine is now accepting Medicare patients.
Medicare eligible patients will need to sign a waiver every two years stating that neither you nor your doctor will directly bill Medicare for our services. You can still submit claims to Medicare for any lab tests, imaging, medications, or hospitalizations prescribed by our office, just as you normally would.
While both Direct Primary Care (DPC) and Concierge medicine focus on providing more personalized care and better access to your doctor, there are key differences. In DPC, you pay a monthly membership fee, which covers your visits and communication with your doctor, without involving insurance or additional fees. It emphasizes affordable, accessible care, and longer, more meaningful appointments. Concierge medicine, on the other hand, often involves higher membership fees and typically includes more exclusive services, like 24/7 availability or immediate access to a doctor at any time. At TrueCare, while we offer great access to care during normal business hours, please note that I am not available 24/7. I’ll always get back to you promptly during business hours for non-emergent issues, and if you ever need urgent care, we’ll guide you to the appropriate resources. My goal is to be available when you need me most — but with a balance that allows us to focus on your health long-term.
